There are few stories that can eclipse the efforts of Michel Phelps when he's winning at full pelt in the pool.
But the record achievements of the US swimmer were almost over shadowed recently by his pre-race routine.
The hashtag #PhelpsFace started trending following footage that seemed to show the 31-year-old giving a "death stare" to his rival Chad le Clos.
Phelps later denied he had been directing any derision towards the South African and was merely in the zone ahead of his swim.
But the image of a hooded, angry Phelps was too good an opportunity for our creative community here at DesignCrowd to pass up.
Dozens of designers submitted their take on the challenge to juxtapose a moody looking Phelps with some of the cuter, friendlier things in life.
The designs ranged from him seemingly showing clear disgruntlement at parental duties, through to him glaring at Pokemon, scowling at pets, and hating on nature.
