Top 40 Crowdsourced Kevin Rudd T-Shirt Designs

Crowdsourcing is quickly growing in popularity among big companies and organizations for almost anything from updating a brand look to a new campaign design. The latest big brand crowdsourcing example on DesignCrowd was a t-shirt design contest to help none other than Australia's former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd aka 'KRudd'.

The brief first appeared on Mr Rudd's website as an open invitation to the Australian public to help design his re-election t-shirt. The announcement caught the attention of the Australian press and DesignCrowd. We put the challenge to our designers to create KRudd's next re-elction t-shirt design and launched the $1,000 Kevin Rudd t-shirt contest.

Design by Studio71

Kevin Rudd selected the winning t-shirt design with the slogan of "It's our Ruddy future" from 405 designs submitted by 118 DesignCrowd t-shirt designers. The winning designer, Shane Marchewka (DesignCrowd avatar Studio71) of Melbourne, not only won a prize of $1000 but also the prestige of seeing his t-shirt worn by supporters of the Rudd campaign and bagged Mr Rudd as a client!

Shane was thrilled to win and told us:

I registered with DesignCrowd earlier in the year as a way to boost my exposure in freelance design. I am stoked enough to say I have a former Prime Minister as a client however the $1,000 prize money is like a cherry on top of a very sweet cake!

In response to the contest, Kevin Rudd said:

Shane is a great guy who is putting in the effort to start his own small business. He had a range of great ideas and really embraced the spirit of the competition. I wish Shane and Studio71 all the best for taking his business to the next step. I was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of entries, so thanks a million to DesignCrowd and Australia’s talented graphic design community.
